LELAND 'JUNIOR' SHIPPY, 86 JANESVILLE, Wis. - Leland "Junior" Shippy, age 86, of Janesville, passed away peacefully at the home of James "Jack" and Mary Shippy rural Davis, IL on April 18, 2014. He was born on Oct. 3, 1927, the son of Leland and Nellie (Black-more) Shippy. Leland graduated from Orangeville High School in 1945. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1946 and sent to Tokyo, Japan for one year. He returned home and then was redrafted in 1950, and sent to Korea. After serving 2 years in Korea, he returned home to farm with his father and brother, Don. After his fathers' passing, he continued operating the family farm with his brother, Don until his retirement. He married the love of his life Beach Kunkel on June 20, 1987, at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Beloit. Together they enjoyed traveling, vacationing and attending family gatherings. Leland is survived by his step children, Donald (Barbara) Kunkel, Steve (Kathy) Kunkel, and Penni Allen; siblings, James (Jack) Shippy, Donald (Bar-bara) Shippy, Mary Shippy all of Davis, IL, Gene Shippy of Pecatonica, IL, and Denny (Mary) Shippy of Gratiot, WI; step grandchil-dren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beach; and sister-in-law, Beth Shippy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1250 East Racine St. Janesville, WI 53545, with Msgr. Donn Heiar officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Davis, IL.
