Leo. J Georgeage 93, of Speedway, passed away July 10, 2017. He was born on June 17, 1924 in Brazil, Indiana as the son of Isaac and Frieda George. Leo and his wife, Elizabeth, spent 35 years together. He was a supervisor for Chrysler Corporation, retiring in 1979 after 28 years with the company. He was a Deputy Constable for Center Township Small Claims Court for 30 years and was the co-owner/operator of John Henry's Pub for over 20 years.A veteran of the United States
Army during
WWII, he served with the 7th Army in campaigns in Italy, France, Germany and Central Europe. He was a lifetime member of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, a 32nd Degree Mason, he was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, The Murat Shrine and Center Masonic Lodge #23.Leo is survived by his wife, Elizabeth George; children, Sandra K. (Darryl) Huter, Linda Denney and Leo Jay (Carol) George; step-children, Steven L. Harris and Ashley Smiley; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Annabelle Gough; and sister-in-law, Janet Bucher. Leo was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Emory George and Henry George; and step-child, Leanne JohnsonA visitation will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan - Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. During visitation, a Masonic Service will begin at 7 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 2 p.m., also at the funeral center. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
