Mr. Leo Conner, 80, of Lake City, Florida passed away on February 1, 2015. He was born one of a triplet, in Jackson County on December 31, 1934 to the late J.B. and Myrtle Stanley Conner. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Kimiyo Conner, triple siblings, Theo Conner and Cleo Hall, sister, Lillian Conner and brother, Kenneth Conner. He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years and retired while stationed at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. While in Columbia, South Carolina, he began his career at the VA Hospital, transferred to and retired in Lake City with a total of 25 years of service for the VA. He was a life member of the Morocco Shriners in Jacksonville, Florida, and a loyal member of the Wellborn Masonic Lodge. Over the years, he held various positions including Worshipful Master, District Deputy Grand Master for District #9, as well as becoming an honorary member of each lodge within the 9th district. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Flora and Michael Wingard, granddaughter Lauren Wingard and grandson Brandon Wingard, of Columbia, South Carolina. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Beach of Lenior, North Carolina and Frances Thomley of Cantonment, Florida and brother Wayland Conner (Bebe) of Simmern, Germany, and a host of nieces and nephews as well as grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. Funeral services for him will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Gateway~Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 3:00 P.M (CST) in Shady Grove Cemetery, in Grand Ridge, Florida. In lieu of flowers family ask that donations be made to Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center at 6037 US Hwy 90 Lake City, FL 32055. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
