LEO G. PAXSON, 79 STOCKTON - Leo G. Paxson 79, of Stockton passed away on November 11, 2013, at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Leo was born on July 28, 1934, in Stockton, IL to Charles J. and Wilhelmina (Niemann) Paxson. He was a graduate of Stockton High School in 1952. Leo married Shirley Halzel on April 5, 1952, at the Embury United Methodist Church in Freeport, IL. Leo was a supervisor for Micro Switch MFG for many years, and he retired after 34 years of service in 1990 from the Warren Plant in Warren, IL. He also co-owned and operated a TV antennae and Dish installation and repair business with Darrell Robbins since 1972. Leo and Shirley also ran the Apple Tree Antiques where they bought and sold antiques and collectables. Leo was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Stockton. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and going to the children and grandchildren's sporting events. He loved to golf and snowmobile and the many RV camping trips down to Thompson along the causeways of the Mississippi River. They took many trips in the winter out to Phoenix, Arizona as well as trips out east to visit family. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Stockton, IL; 2 sons, Randy (Leanna) Paxson of Cincinnati, OH, Rick (Karen) Paxson of Allentown, PA; 2 daughters, Renee Paxson of Roscoe, IL, and Raeann (Martin) Vrstal of Warren, IL; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Leona; two brothers, Howard and Ralph; and one great-grandchild, Chloe. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013, at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Stockton, IL, with a luncheon to follow. Gathering time will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Pastor Brenda Morris will officiate at the services. A memorial has been established in his memory.
