Leon Springfield was born in Memphis, Tennessee on March 29, 1935 to the late Robert and Lucille Springfield. He was the only child born to this union. He was educated in Memphis Tennessee.

In 1955, he met and married Rebecca Norwood. From this union two sons was born Robert and Charles. He later relocated to Detroit Michigan, where he was employed by Ford Motor Company. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and spending time with family. Leon had a love for riding motorcycles and belonged to the Soul Star Motorcycle Club. He was a very tall and slender man and never went without notice when entering the room. He was a very hard worker working for 33 years before retiring. In his later years, he moved back to his hometown of, Tennessee. 

Leon departed this life on December 11, 2023. He went on to be reunited with his youngest son, Charles Springfield, who proceeded him in death. He leaves the cherish his memories; his son, Robert Springfield, his granddaughter Kimberly Springfield, which he raised as his own daughter, his grandson Robert Springfield. He also leaves to cherish his memory four grandchildren Jennifer, Nicole Bryan and Charles Springfield all of Detroit Michigan.
