Leon Weikle Obituary

May 08, 1930 - Jun 04, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Leon Richardson "Red" WeikleBELLVILLE: Leon Richard "Red" Weikle was called home to be with the Lord on June 4, 2017 being reunited with his true love, Lois Weikle. He was born on May 8, 1930 to Gerald and Bernice (Pence) Weikle in Sarton, West Virginia. Red and Lois, his loving wife of 65 years, made their way to Ohio, settling in Bellville to start their life and family. Leon loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren playing outdoor games. Red was known by the Bellville community as a "walker," as he used to walk five miles a day around Bellville. He enjoyed bowling, tending to his gardens and fruit trees, and hunting; with his beagles as his hunting companions. Family reunions were something he looked forward to, "going down home" as he called it, visiting with his family, and hunting. Red spent some time working in a local Apple Orchard and was a retiree of 43 years at White Westinghouse in Mansfield, Ohio. Leon's quiet, confident, steady ways inspired those he was around. Adding a great sense of humor he made it easy for everyone to talk with him. He will be greatly missed by many. Leon is survived by two daughters; Linda Frederick and Vanessa (Dave) Ruhl, of Bellville; four grandchildren, Augusta Frederick of Bellville, Brandon (Stephanie) Ruhl of Galion, Amanda (Jason) Smith of Texas, and Britany (Dustin) Gatton of Mansfield; eight great-grandchildren Aaron and Allison Frederick, Madison and Maci Ruhl, Isabella and Landon Smith, and Broghan and Emerie Gatton; one great great-grandson William Remaley.
