Leonard Earl JohnsonA Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Leonard Earl Johnson on Monday, November 21, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church with Rev. Chad Partain officiating. Interment will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a recitation of the Holy Rosary in the Kramer Chapel at 6:00 p.m., led by Deacon Bill Travis. Visitation will resume on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.Leonard Earl Johnson, 88 of Alexandria, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016, in his home. He is preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, and 7 sisters. Leonard was born on January 29, 1928, to Mahaley Jane Patterson and Frank M. Johnson. He was the 16th of 17 children in the Johnson Family. Leonard was a lifetime member of St. Frances Cabrini Church where he celebrated the marriage to his sweetheart, Marjorie Vanlangendonck on April 7, 1951, served as a 2nd Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and volunteered with the Cabrini nursing home ministries. He was a loving and supporting husband and father. Leonard worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a clerk, yardmaster, and train master, retiring after 44 years of service in January of 1988. He proudly served his country during both World War II (1946) in the United States Marine Corps, and the Korean Conflict (1951) in the Army National Guard. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 65 years, Marjorie Vanlangendonck Johnson; their 6 children, Ruby Elizabeth Johnson of Alexandria, Theresa Diane Johnson Robichaux and her husband Jerry of Woodworth, Christopher Francis Johnson and his wife Susan of Gillis, LA, Miriam Cecile Johnson Clay and her husband Ken of Pineville, Dorothy Lynn Johnson Blundell and her husband Robert of Friendswood, TX, and Thomas Gerard Johnson of Green Cove Springs, FL; 18 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
