Leonard Monroe Hopkins, 78, of Cox's Creek, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born on Feb. 10, 1935, in Louisville. He was a self-employed logger and saw mill operator, former employee of Wood-Mosaic Company, a United States Marine veteran serving in the Korea War and member of Cox's Creek Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by his wife, Mayme Fay Cook Hopkins; his parents, Guy Emory and Maudie Frances Hopkins; and a brother, David Hopkins.Survivors include two sons, Terry Lynn (Sandy) Hopkins, of Lexington, Michael Greg (Kimberly) Hopkins, of Bardstown, his daughter, Lisa (Charlie) Posey, of Henderson; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Richards and Sharon (Bobby) Larimore, both of Belmont; three brothers, Joseph Hopkins, of Bullitt County, Richard (Sharon) Hopkins, of Belmont, and Paul (Pam) Larimore, of Bonnieville. The funeral is at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with burial in New Salem Church Cemetery. Brother Jim Bratcher will officiate.Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home. Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
