Leonard P. "Torch" Rego 1940 - 2016 Leonard P. "Torch" Rego, 76, of Bassett, Wis., died Friday evening Nov. 18, 2016, at the Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha, Wis. Leonard Patrick Rego was born on March 17, 1940, in Westford Township, Wis., the son of the late John E. and Mary Connors Rego. Leonard lived in Caznovia, Wis., before moving to Kenosha County in 1959. He graduated from Weston High School and furthered his education through the years at Gateway Technical College studying electrical classes, plumbing and management. Leonard met and married Donna Mae Sarbacker on Aug. 22, 1964, in St. John's Catholic Church in Twin Lakes. Len served in the National Guard from 1963 until discharge in 1969. Len worked as a supervisor for American Motors (Chrysler Corp.) for 30 years retiring in 1989. Not one to sit around he went to work for Lovely Carpets for 15 years and also built with lifelong friends the Genoa City Storage in 1990 and continued to operate today. Len was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Twin Lakes and also attended St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington, Wis. He was an active member of the Genoa City Lions Club where he served as tailtwister and served on several committees. He was also a member of the Twin Lakes American Legion Post #544. He was a member of the St. John's Knight of Columbus, Council #6554 and the Twin Lakes Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching the Badgers and Packers. Len was an avid health nut and a member of the "Breakfast Club" at the Burlington Wellness center where he walked 4 miles every morning. He was always helping people, being a humble servant of God. He enjoyed plowing snow with his new toy, a Dodge Ram pickup for friends and family with delay. According to his wife, Donna, Len was truly a gentle man, so caring, sharing and always there to help family and anyone who needed help. He was very knowledgeable and could fix or repair anything. He was the best husband and took such good care me, I was truly blessed. The greatest joy in his life was his six adoring grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with family at Lennie's Lodge. Len is survived by: his wife of 52 years, Donna; two children, Melissa (Paul) Weis of Burlington, Wis., and Patrick (Kay) Rego of Jackson, Wis.; six grandchildren, Nathan, Haile, Adam, Emme, Michael and Kelsee; two brothers, James (Marianna) Rego of Chickasha, Okla., and Richard (Laurel) Rego of Bassett, Wis.; sister-in-law, Sharon Rego of Baraboo, Wis.; granddogs, Fred and Daisy and grandcat, Skeezicks. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister Marjie; two brothers, Tom Rego and an infant brother. The Rego Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, 440 Kendall St., Burlington, WI. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Charles Cemetery in Burlington.
