LOGAN, Utah - Lerah, formerly of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away peacefully with family by her side Sunday, May 25, at the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Sept. 29, 1920, daughter of Alphonso and Millie Myers Humphries. She lived most of her years in Pocatello, where she raised her family and enjoyed her grandchildren. Mom loved to dance, such as ballet, tap, acrobatics, etc. She could stand on her head until the age of 75. She loved all the "little ones" in her neighborhood and was famous for having a treat each time they came to visit. She delighted in teaching them simple dance steps and how to stand on their heads. She always had the cutest wit about her, making many laugh with her famous phrases, endearing herself to everyone who met her, including the staff at the care center. They loved to ask her how old she was, she would say, "Sweet sixteen, never been kissed, but badly slobbered on." Mom was a member of the LDS church. She served in the primary and was a faithful visiting teacher. Many remember her for her compassionate service. She is survived by four children: Norene Richardson (DC), Pocatello, Manard Wallace (Johanna), Inkom, Roger Garner (Bonnie), Pocatello, Sydney Pearson (Lewis), Logan, Utah, and a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Wallace, Astoria, Ore., 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters; Gloria Rumel, Joan Humphries, and Sharon Cook and a brother, Bud Humphries. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, a brother, and her son David Wallace. The family would like to thank the many in-home health care aides, particularly Becca Stott who loved her as her own mother, and the Sunshine Terrace Day Center for helping her to share her tap dancing on the stage of the Eccles Theater and taking her places and doing activities that she may have never experienced otherwise. Thank you to the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Staff for treating Mom with dignity and respect as she transitioned to the other side. A CELEBRATION of her life will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, at Manning Wheatly Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho, with her son-in-law, Lewis Pearson, officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 to 11:15 a.m. prior to services.
