Here lies Lester Hawkins Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and fisherman extraordinaire. Born on January 13, 1946, in Memphis, Tennessee to Lester Hawkins Sr. and Rose Hawkins, Lester lived a full and adventurous life until his passing on October 24, 2024.
Lester was a proud graduate of Carver High School, where he undoubtedly caused his fair share of mischief. After school, he joined the Army and dedicated many years of service before retiring in 2010.
When he wasn't protecting his country, Lester could be found out on the water, fishing to his heart's content. He always claimed that the best stories and biggest catches were found on the open seas.
In 25, Lester married his true love, Mary Hawkins. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Marilyn Stamps and Marshall Stamps. Lester's greatest joy in life came from his 10 grandchildren, who he spoiled rotten with fishing trips and tall tales of the one that got away.
Unfortunately, Lester's battle with cancer came to an end on that fateful day in October. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the joy and laughter he brought to all who knew him.
Rest easy, Lester Hawkins Jr. Your fishing rod may be stowed away, but your memory will always be alive in our hearts.
