Lester T. JacobsPEORIA – Lester Todd Jacobs, 95, of East Peoria passed away at 8:26 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria. He was born on September 16, 1921, in Bowen, Illinois, to Oren L. and Dessie L. (Todd) Jacobs. He married Amy Marie Korta on November 28, 1943, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on March 29, 1998. He later married Wilma Ireland on June 8, 2000. She survives in Peoria, Illinois.Lester is survived by his six children, Judith Littlefield of Vicksburg, Michigan, Gloria (Charles) Nofsinger of Washington, Nancy (Andrew) Czernek of Mukilteo, Washington, Marilyn (Chris) Phillips of Woodstock, Patricia (Mark) Maston and Paul (Tracie) Jacobs, both of East Peoria, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Wilma's daughter, Annette (Michael) Sayers of East Peoria, four step-grandchildren, and eleven step-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Russell and Lawrence, his son-in-law, Arthur Littlefield, his daughter-in-law, Sherry Verkler Jacobs, and his step-son Gerald Ireland.Lester served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Europe. He graduated from Brown's Business College and spent his career as an office manager and accountant. He continued working as an income tax preparer for many years after his retirement.He loved family gatherings, funny stories, music, and the St. Louis Cardinals. Most importantly he believed in Jesus Christ as his Savior and modeled consistency in participating in worship services at our church. He attended Grace Presbyterian Church for over fifty years. The family would like to thank the aides of Spoon River Home Healthcare for their compassion and care for their Dad.A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016, at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria with Rev. Kerry Frantz officiating. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2016, at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria and one hour prior to the service on Monday, November 14 at the church.
