He married Eva Allen Sova on June 12, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sauk Rapids. Les had a very strong faith and while he was an associate member of Mission of the Cross Lutheran Church in Crosslake, he was also an active and lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sauk Rapids for more than 90 years.A proud veteran of World War II, Les worked for the Veteran's Administration for nearly 30 years. A charter member of St. Cloud Singing Saints barbershop chorus, he had many hobbies. His creative and artistic spirit will live on in his projects that were - and continue to be - admired, enjoyed and cherished by so many, from a canoe, a sailboat named the "Windmill" that was unbeatable in the Whitefish Chain Yacht Club regattas, to furniture, stained glass windows, paintings and his infamous rosemaled bowls. He traveled extensively, and enjoyed winters in Arizona and summers at the cabin, sailing, hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was most proud of his family, and the lifelong friendships he held so dear. He could tell a good story, and insisted to the end that his closely held, secret recipe for bouja was the original. Les was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister and his wife Eva. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in law Marybeth and Kevin Thorsgaard of Eagan, Minnesota, and Jody Leigh and Jay Jackson of Fountain Hills, Arizona, as well as grandchildren Abby and Nick Thorsgaard, and Eva and Annika Jackson.Memorials preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, 2163 Mayhew Lake Rd., Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, 56379.
