She was born on June 16, 1924, in Wallace, N.C., the daughter of George and Elma (Norris) Hansley. Kathryn graduated from Clement High School in Wallace, N.C., a fact she was very proud of. She married Robert Bowers on Dec. 20, 1951, with whom she shared over 50 happy years. Kathryn worked as a nursing assistant for Colonial Manor Nursing Home for 18 1/2 years. She loved the outdoors, camping, gardening and fishing. She was also a talented seamstress, loved music and dancing, and was a collector of beautiful and unique hats. Kathryn had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to travel and tell stories of her adventures throughout the years. She was an avid Packers and Duke Basketball fan. Kathryn proudly supported our military and was very proud to be the wife of a service member. Mostly, she loved her family, especially the grandkids and great-grandgirls. Kathryn is survived by four daughters, Patricia (Gary Sr.) Moyer, Kimberly (Darcy) Grimesey, Bonnie (Lonnie) Lenzendorf and Amanda Bowers; six grandchildren, Robert (Angela) Lenzendorf, Tamara Lenzendorf, Gary Moyer, Jr., Kristina (Adam) Schintgen, Terry Bowers and Michael (Tessa) Lenzendorf; five great-grandchildren, Mariah Lenzendorf, Ellie Lenzendorf, Lily Schintgen, Raelynn Lenzendorf and "one on the way"; special niece, Bobbie Jean Florence; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; two sisters, Dorothy (Tommy) Morris and Melva (Robert) Booth; nephew, Hillary Booth; as well as other extended family and in-laws. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 12 noon on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, with the Rev. Sandra Schieble presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Memorial contributions to Agrace HospiceCare or Badger Honor Flight.
