Linda Amen, 81, of Wichita, Kansas, passed on August 20, 2023. Linda was born on August 14, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas.
Her children remember her love of animals of all types. For a while she had a horse and had a home nearby her beloved cousin Nancy Grove who always had critters of all types on her large property. Mom enjoyed riding and even did barrel racing during that time in her life.
We remember her love of food and eating. She wasn't the best cook by any stretch of the imagination. In fact she could thoroughly gross us out by cooking and eating Beef Heart, Liver, or Mackerel Patties but we did develop a taste for her fried Chicken Gizzards . Despite never being taught to cook, she still attempted to give her Betty Crocker Cookbook a serious workout.
Our Mother had an infectious laugh. She really loved to laugh big deep belly laughs and she had an excellent sense of humor. She also loved to dance and go dancing. She was pretty good at it, she even joined a Square Dance group for a couple of years.
Mom was athletic growing up and as a young mother, she could do cartwheels better than her daughters. She also enjoyed swimming when she could. Linda loved all things Elvis and she passed that love on to us.
The thing she did very well and her lasting legacy is that Mom taught us to hug and openly show affection. That wasn't always done back in the era we were raised. She really didn't have a "mean" bone in her body.
We are forever grateful to her for that.
You can to the family or in memory of Linda Amen.
