LYONS/NEWARK - Linda May Benfer, 59, died Monday (October 17, 2016) at her home in Lyons. Friends may call from 11 a.m. till noon on Friday (October 21st) at the Church of Christ, 219 West Avenue, Newark where a funeral service will be held at Noon, with The Rev. Earlvin Greene officiating.Linda was born on August 13, 1957, in Rochester the daughter of Norman and Elizabeth Peters LaPlant, Sr. She served in the US Army. Linda was a member of the Church of Christ and had been a Sunday school teacher.She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Anderson of Rochester; four sisters, Lorraine (Ira) Tohafjian of Savannah, Christine (Ray) Hadley of Rochester, Kimberly (Gerald) Minns of Phelps, and Marjorie Townsend of Newark; five brothers, Norman (Kim) LaPlant, Jr. of Lyons, Wayne (Michelle Ficcaro) LaPlant, Dale McCarthy of Conquest, Timothy McCarthy of Wolcott and Mark (Wendy) McCarthy of Niagara Falls; two stepchildren, Marsha Beaumont of Lyons and Russell Benfer of Florida.Linda was predeceased by her husband, Charles Benfer.www.murphyandsons funeralhome.com
