Benjamin, Linda S. (Smiley)Linda S. (Smiley) Benjamin, age 66, of Watkins Glen passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Schuyler Hospital with her family by her side. Linda was born on June 28, 1950 in Corning, NY, the daughter of the late William "Tom" Smiley and the late Margie A. (Keen) Southard. She worked as a logistics supervisor for various companies throughout the country, including JVC out of California for 30 years. After returning to Corning, Linda opened Wags and Whiskers pet shop on Market Street.Linda will be remembered for her love of all animals. Most of all she will be remembered for her strength and determination - always acting as an advocate for those she loved and making everyone "tow the line". She is survived by siblings: Judith (Smiley) Jones of Coopers Plains, NY, Richard T. Smiley of Corning, NY, Debra (Jim) Ribble of Painted Post, NY, Ramona Crawford of Elizabethtown, KY; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Hayley Scholtisek. In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by brothers: William Smiley, Randy Smiley; sisters: Dorothy Scholtisek and Brenda Southard; nephew, Richard H. Smiley; and bothers-in-law: Butler Jones and Henry Scholtisek.Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY. A funeral service will immediately follow at 6:00pm with Pastor James Radford officiating.
