Linda Whittle Mize December 16, 1939 - December 3, 2016 Columbus, GA- Linda Whittle Mize, 76, Columbus, Georgia, died Saturday, December 3, 2016 surrounded my her family. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at 2:00 pm at Saint Paul United Methodist Church, 2101 Wildwood Avenue, Columbus, Georgia. The family will receive friends immediately after the service. Linda was born on December 16, 1939 to the late Hazel Leroy Whittle and Lucille Hudson Whittle. She attended Columbus High School and afterwards she attended Brenau College where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She married James Branche Mize, Jr on December 27, 1959 at Saint Paul United Methodist Church. They both had active years at Saint Paul where she served on the Altar Guild, Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Miller-Wilson Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Soft Tones of Faith musical group. She loved to participate and lead Bible studies for various age groups and loved sharing her love for the Lord. Linda was a homemaker for most of her life. In later years, she enjoyed being a para-professional at Reese Road and Matthews Elementary Schools. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also loved gathering with her friends each month to celebrate one another's birthday. Linda and the love of her life, Jimmy, will be spending their 57th wedding anniversary alongside their Heavenly Father. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of fifty seven years, James Branche Mize Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Claire High (Jim), Cindy Brodwyn (Jay), Catherine Dykes (Gene), Barbara Burt (Mark), Linda Sheffield (Thurston); nine grandchildren, Chandler Sasser, Luke Sheffield, James Livingston, Catherine Brodwyn, Jessica Livingston, Allison Holt, Quincy Holt, Branche Sheffield, Anna High. Her sister, Roff Whittle Justice (Harvey), nephew, Harvey Gray Justice, niece, Lynn Justice Day(Mark), and sister in law, Barbara Gilliam Haneman (Vince). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Paul United Methodist Church.
