Lionel was born August 15, 1925 in Abbeville, LA to Ovignac LaRive and Zulmae Couvillier LaRive.

A native of Vermilion Parish and resident of Coteau, Lionel passed away Friday, July 24, 2020, at his residence. Lionel proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He was a retired car salesman. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, music, and was an awesome dancer.

Survivors include his wife, Esther LaRive; daughters, Beth Billiot of Lafayette, Lori Louviere, and husband Kenneth of New Iberia, Melanie Menard and husband Lonnie of Coteau, Sheila Touchet of New Iberia; Son, Glenn LaRive of New Iberia. Grandchildren, Jeremy Boutte, Joshua Billiot, Jolie Clifton, Dexter Freyou, Dylan Freyou, Dustin Freyou, Alyssa Louviere, Alayna Louviere, Kolbe Louviere, Landon Menard, Melia Menard, James Touchet Jr., Jennifer Touchet, Kendra Louviere, Glenn LaRive Jr., Joey LaRive, Travis LaRive, and Derek Badon. 11 great-grandchildren. Brother-in-law, Irving Sigur Jr., and Sister in law, Janice Bergeron.

Lionel was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara T. LaRive; his parents Ovignac & Zulmae LaRive; His brothers, Santive LaRive, Linus LaRive, Norris LaRive, Justin LaRive; Sisters, Bernadette LaRive, Imae Chauvin, Leona Martin, & Linda Louviere; Son-in-law, Joshua Clifton.
