Peden, LionelLionel "Ben" Peden, age 82, passed away on February 14, 2017 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital surrounded by his family.Services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Herman Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday and from 10:00 AM until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home.Ben was born on July 10, 1934, in Rossburn, Manitoba, Canada, to Clarke and Dorothy (Bensen) Peden. He married Carol Greenquist on March 16, 1957 at Our Savior English Lutheran Church in Chicago, IL.He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957 until 1959 and again from 1961 until 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis.Ben loved playing and watching hockey and also helped bring the sport to Central Wisconsin to enjoy. He loved flying airplanes and building them as models as a hobby and was a member of E.A.A. since 1977. He enjoyed watching the History Channel and also
World War II documentaries. As a family man, Ben was a loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather and enjoyed spending time with all of them.He was an avid sports fan and followed the Packers, Cubs, and Blackhawks.Ben is survived by his wife, Carol; children: Dawn (Edward) Neve, Cherie (Neil) Statz, Joy (Gary) Heller, Brian (Gail) Peden, Keith Peden, and Neil (Renee) Peden; grandchildren: Ken (Maria) Statz, Amy (Mark) Truckey, Sarah (Sam) Pieper, Tracy (Mason) Neve, Eddie (Matthew) Neve, Kimberly Neve, Kyle Anderson, Vaughn Peden, Molly Peden, Eli Peden, Bensen Peden, and Bergen Peden; and great grandchildren: Aurora, Johann, Franz, Charlie, Riley, Teegan; brother, Dennis (Carol) Peden, and sister, Sonja Peden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Peden and Clarke Peden, and sister, Dolores (Eugene) Loster.Online condolences may be expressed at
