Lloyd was born on June 6, 1935 in New York City to Lloyd Canning and Isabelle Frank. He was a graduate of the Academy of Dramatic Arts. Lloyd proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Sergeant from 1953 to 1957. He was also owner of a number of establishments in Poughkeepsie, namely Frivolous Sal's, The Last Chance, Gus's Pick & Shovel and Nellie Kelly's. Later in his career, Lloyd was a groundskeeper at McCann and College Hill Golf Course in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was also a member of the VFW Post 170 McKenna-Frye Men's Auxiliary. He loved Cape Cod, his family and brothers.Lloyd is survived by his 2 brothers, John M. Canning of Hyde Park, NY, James Canning and wife Pat of Myrtle Beach, SC as well numerous nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Burial is private.
