Lloyd Arthur Northard1930 - 2016Lloyd Arthur Northard, 86, of Rice Lake, Wis., died Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at his daughters home.He was born on Feb. 24, 1930, in Detroit, Mich., to Lloyd and Amy (Farrand) Northard. Lloyd graduated from the Cooley High School in Detroit, Mich., and then attended Wayne State University in Detroit. He met and married Marilyn Alice Todd on Dec. 12, 1951, while she was in nursing training. Lloyd worked for the Detroit News as a sports writer and news writer and then became a bureau manager for UPI (United Press International). Lloyd and Marilyn moved to Kenosha in 1970 and worked in Public Relations for American Motors and moved back to Detroit in 1977 and then worked for Chrysler Motors for many years. Lloyd and Marilyn moved to Rice Lake in 2000 and became active members of the United Presbyterian Church. Lloyd and Marilyn spent many happy years in retirement with family and friends, and traveling to places in Europe, Australia, Canada, and throughout the United States.He was a deacon in the Presbyterian Church in Michigan, hosted many foreign exchange students, was on the Foster Care Board in Detroit and was a Rotarian in Michigan and Wisconsin.He enjoyed playing bridge and golf as well as solving crossword and sudoko puzzles, watching all sports and financial news on television. He loved spending time with and was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Lloyd Northard is survived by his sons, Todd Northard of Eau Claire, Wis., David Northard of Kenosha, Wis., Scott (Jackie) Northard of Hastings, Minn., Peter (Lynne) Northard of Grafton, Wis., and Eric (Nancy) Northard of Grand Rapids, Minn.; and his daughter, Amy (Joe) Korbel of Rice Lake, Wis.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Coralee Northard of San Antonio, Tex.; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Northard; his parents, Lloyd and Amy Northard; a brother, Robert and two sisters, Genevieve Spielburg and Marion Baker.Memorial Services will be held 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at the United Presbyterian Church in Rice Lake, WI, with Rev. Chris McCurdy officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 - 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2016 at the United Presbyterian Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Appleyards Home for Funerals, 19 W.
