DERBY-Swartz, Lois Ann (Wittich) A long-time resident of Derby, died on the Feb. 7, 2016, at her home in Phoenix, AZ and is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on Feb. 18, 1930, in Guthrie, OK to Floyd and Lois McVicker. Lois Ann married Bobby Jack Wittich in 1951, and together they had 5 children. She received her degree and teaching certificate and taught in Haysville, KS from the late 1960's until her retirement in the 1980s. Lois Ann and Bob were married until his death in 1973. Lois Ann married Ralph Swartz in 1984 and together they raised 2 of Ralph's 5 children. Lois Ann loved her family, friends, traveling with Ralph, and life. She enjoyed music, reading, puzzles, and was a long-time PEO Sister. For many years, she transcribed textbooks into Braille for the Red Cross. Lois Ann and Ralph spent the last 15 winters as Snowbirds in Phoenix, AZ while spending summers in Derby. Lois Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Bob Wittich; one son, Robert Dale Wittich; and her dear friend and sister, BJ Jacobs. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Swartz of the home; 4 children, Ann (Daryl) Hamlett of Garden City, Patti (Michael) Kelly of Broken Arrow, OK, David (Julie) Wittich of Wichita, and Darryl (Cindy) Wittich of Mount Hope. Lois Ann is also survived by 4 stepchildren, Michael (Kim) Swartz, of Derby, Marcy Corcoran of Hutchinson, Kristina (Jim) Mahoney of Tempe, AZ, and Christopher (Kim) Swartz of Eureka; many wonderful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Memorial gifts may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Derby KS, where a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016.
