Lois GreenLois Jeanette Nelson Green, 87, passed away on Tuesday, August 1 in Lafayette, Indiana.Lois was born on November 5, 1929, in Huron, South Dakota to Gordon Wesley Nelson and Helen Vera Rynes Nelson. Lois lived in Madison, South Dakota until she was 15 when the family moved to Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines in 1947. She attended and graduated Drake University, with a Liberal Arts Degree, in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1951. While at Drake, she met and married the love of her life Harry W. Green. After graduation, Lois and Harry moved to Scranton, Iowa and later to Lafayette, Indiana where they raised their family. Lois later returned to school, receiving her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from
Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Students and parents in Lafayette remember Lois as a dedicated and caring teacher in the Lafayette School Corporation where she taught for 27 years at Edgelea Elementary. An inspiration to her students and a friend to parents, she will be missed and fondly remembered. Lois is survived by daughters Linda Koller of Tigard, Oregon, and Pam Blessing (Husband: Eric) of Markle, Indiana; grandchildren, Zachary, Jessica, and Kevin Farrell, Adam (wife: Elissa) Koller and Kelsey (husband: Tom) Drake; a great-granddaughter, Sasha Drake; sisters Marilyn Nelson and Barbara (husband: David) Stover of Denver, CO; and many loving nieces and nephews. Her family and friends brought great joy to her life.Lois lived a wonderful life and loved her family, friends, church, and bridge groups. She was a joyful, caring and loving woman and will be deeply missed by all.Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Harry Green and her parents.A memorial service celebrating Lois's life will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 at Christ United Methodist Church of Lafayette.
