YADKINVILLE — Mrs. Lois White Jester passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, just short of her 78th birthday. Mrs. Jester was born on May 19, 1937, to the late Lela Jones White and Leon White. She lived in Charlotte, following an illness last summer and previously lived in Yadkin and Surry counties. Lois was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 58 years, Claude Jester Jr. She was also preceded in death by sisters and their spouses, Nina (Clinton) Hardy, Nellie (Roby) Stanley, Imogene (Porter Hardy and Leo Wood), Hazel (Morgan) Stanley. She was preceded in death by brothers Ray, Gray, and Melvin White. Lois was very fond of her husband's family and was preceded in death by in-laws, Nellie Ray and Claude Jester Sr.; sisters-in-law and spouses, Vera (Joe) Holcomb, Nancy (Clay) Williams; also brothers-in-law, Roger (Lorena) Jester and Horace Ray Jester. Lois is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Amanda Jester; and cherished grandsons, Mitchell and Phillip. She is survived by a sister, Nancy Morrison; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Katie White, Ruby Jester, Donnie (Dorothy) Jester, Carolyn (Johnny) Myers, and Ronald Jester. She is also survived by a host of extended family members. Lois and her late husband were very active in Union Grove Baptist Church and VFW Post 10346. She was known for her yeast rolls, which she generously shared with family and friends. Lois had a life-long "gift of gab," never encountering a stranger, and even kept the staff and other residents entertained at the nursing facility where she lived the last nine months. All services will be held on Saturday afternoon, May 16, 2015, at Union Grove Baptist Church, 2401 Nebo Road, Yadkinville, NC, 336-961-5792. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:15 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 3:30 p.m., led by Pastor Kenny Gooden. A graveside service, for the family, will be held in the church cemetary following the funeral. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Pavilion at Ballantyne, Charlotte, for the compassionate care they provided Lois during the past nine months, and the medical teams at Hugh Chatham Hospital (Elkin), and Presbyterian Hospital and Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
