Lois M. Conn, 95Lois M. Conn, age 95, passed away peacefully in her home at 12:55 pm on November 28, 2012.She was born on July 15, 1918, the daughter of Peter J. and Ella (Goris) Smith. She graduated from West Point High School in 1936 and worked Woolworth's Five & Dime.In 1940 she married Bill VanSchepen, who was killed in the Battle of the Bulge during WW2. During WWII she worked at Duncan Meter. In 1945 she joined Lafayette Life Company as a secretary in the investment department and was later promoted to the position supervisor of investment administration. She worked at Lafayette Life for 33 ½ years and retired in 1978.In 1952, she married David G. Conn, a WWII Veteran who preceded in death in February 2006. They were happily married for 54 years.Her sister, Bernice and brother-in law, Herm VanSchepen also preceded in death.She was a life long member of the Christian Reformed Church. She enjoyed needle work, crocheting, and doing word search puzzles.She is survived her niece, Elaine Parlon (husband John), her great-niece, Beth Taylor (husband Matt), great-nephew, John Parlon (wife Hannah), three great-great-nieces, and one great-great-nephew. She is also survived first cousins, Barb Bouwkamp (Wayne), Roger Smith (Carol), and Carl Smith.Visitation one hour prior to the 2 p.m. Service, Monday, December 2, 2013 at Hippensteel Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Bonnes officiating. Burial to follow at Rest Haven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Lafayette Christian Reformed Church. Hippensteel Funeral Home is entrusted the care.
