Lois C. Martin EshlemanApril 28, 1921 - March 25, 2017GreencastleLois Catherine Martin Eshleman, 95, died on Saturday morning March 25, 2017 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 28, 1921 in Waynesboro and was the daughter of the late Albert and Fannie (Shank) Diller of Greencastle. She was married to Henry Eshleman for 20 years at the time of her death. She was previously married to Russell Martin for almost 50 years. They had seven children, Delbert of Sharpsburg, MD, Linford of Baxter, KY, Carolyn Mellinger of Lancaster, Roger of Greencastle, Wilma Martin of Greencastle, and Lowell of Hagerstown, MD; twelve grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She has three living siblings, Aden Diller of Chambersburg, Leon Diller of Montana, and Anna Krouse of Greencastle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Martin; a son, Olen Martin; and siblings, Daniel Diller, Glen Diller and Ethel Petersheim. Lois was a dedicated Christian who lived her life teaching Sunday School, Bible School and was active with the Salem Ridge Sewing Circle. She was quick to help family and friends in many practical ways. With her husbands she volunteered in the community at Bible Release Time for over 25 years, both in Hancock, MD and Greencastle. She also volunteered at World Treasures, a mission thrift shop in Hagerstown. She and Russell sang in the Kings Troubadours, a mixed sacred chorus for about 15 years. Lois was the last of the charter members of Salem Ridge Mennonite Church which began in 1955 and continued her membership there since then. For many years, she was also part of a team who served at Bethel, a mission church in Warfordsburg, PA. She will be dearly missed. All services will be held at Salem Ridge Community Church, 441 Pensinger Rd., Greencastle. Viewing will be from 5 to 8 PM at the church on Saturday, April 1. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 2 at 3 PM with visitation from 2 to 3 PM. There will be a private burial in the adjoining church cemetery on Sunday at 1 PM. The service will be officiated by Pastors Brian Emery and Joe Martin. The family would like to thank Hospice, Blue Mountain Home Care, Menno Haven, Janet Steele, family members and friends for making her last days comfortable and peaceful.
