Lois Ellen McGrade, age 68, passed away peacefully at her home in Lake Wylie, surrounded by family and friends, on December 11, 2016. She was born on February 12, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Henry and Lillian Lichtenwald.Lois attended St. Pancras Elementary School in Glendale, where she graduated the eighth grade. After attending Herricks High School in New Hyde Park, NY, she went on to graduate from Mt. Aloysius College in Cresson PA.Lois was the office manager for the Pomperaug Health District in Southbury, CT. Known for her faith and generous spirit, she worked as secretary for the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in North Muskegon, MI, and also provided support for the All Saints Catholic Church in Lake Wylie, SC. Lois will be remembered as a cherished wife and most beloved mother, grandmother and by her friends as the most kind and caring soul. She loved to garden, was an avid reader, and a bowler. Those who knew Lois said that she was the kindest and most giving person they had ever met. Her gentle exterior masked an inner strength that those closest to her could only marvel at, and could scarcely explain. She never, ever complained, no matter what the circumstances, and met all of life's challenges head-on. In the waning days of her life, with her health failing, while many would have taken to the comfort of a bed, Lois danced to 60's music with her husband. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Daniel McGrade, her three children Tracey, Daniel, Matthew, and her two grandchildren Isabella and Aiden.In celebration of Lois' life, a vigil will be held on Saturday Dec 17 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, 4820 Charlotte Hwy., Lake Wylie, SC 29710. On Sunday Dec 18 at 2:00 pm, a mass will be held at the All Saints Catholic Church, 530 Hwy 274, Lake Wylie, SC.
