Lola Mae BurgeLong time Ellensburg resident, Lola Burge, passed peacefully, with grace, on January 29, 2015, at her home in Texas surrounded by her children. She died of natural causes at the glorious age of 95, after living a full and joyous life.Lola was born on September 28, 1919, in Copan, OK to parents Arthur and Thelma Miller. She grew up in Oklahoma and later Kansas, where she graduated from beauty school and worked as a beautician. There, Lola met Merle Burge and they later married on October 10, 1942, in Jackson, MS where he was stationed in the army, prior to his service in Europe in WWII. After WWII they settled in Los Angeles, CA and in 1955 moved to Ellensburg, where they were involved in farming and business. Together they raised their children, Lathan, Bill, Ed, Bonnie and step-son Melvin.Merle and Lola celebrated 55 years of marriage on October 10, 1997. After Merle's death later that year, Lola lived in Ellensburg, Wenatchee, and most recently in Garland, TX. Lola was preceded in death by her husband, son Lathan, step-son Melvin, grandson Charlie, and sister, Midge. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Bill and Susan Burge and Ed and Kenna Burge, daughter and son-in-law Bonnie and Tim Prater, grandson and granddaughter-in-law Jim and Linda Burge, granddaughters Amber Ingersoll, Candy, Crystal, and Cheri Burge and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at Steward and Williams Tribute Center, 301 East Third Avenue, Ellensburg, WA on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 10:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at Wenatchee Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1804 N Western Ave, Wenatchee, WA at 2 PM.
