Lorene Reed ParksClintonLorene Reed Parks, age 94, of Clinton, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Parks was born on January 19, 1922 in Louisville, MS to the late Edd and Cora Stokes Reed. She met the love of her life, James Parks, in August of 1939 at a church revival in Winston County. They married later that year in December. James and Lorene had three children who were the pride and joy of their life. Mrs. Parks was a devoted military wife and mother. Throughout James' military career in the United States Army, they moved to different places all across the world. During the
Korean War, she served as a Gray Lady with the American Red Cross. She worked as a bookkeeper for different companies and for Mississippi School Pictures. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church and enjoyed fellowship with her Faith Sunday School Class. Her family will always remember her for her seamstress abilities and cooking skills, but above all, she will be remembered for the love she had for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.Mrs. Parks is preceded in death by her loving husband, James F Parks; her parents; brothers, Tommie and Howard Reed; and sister, Autience Eaves. She is survived by her son; Jim Parks and wife Betty, her daughters; Judy Hamilton and Debbie Cummins and her husband Rodney; and brother, Fred Reed. She is also survived by her four grandchildren; Kathy Storm and husband Eric, Bill Parks and wife Sandra, Nathan Cummins and fiance Kelli Trest, and Stephanie Palmertree and husband Ryan; and her loving great grandchildren Travis Parks, Sydney Storm, Sam Storm, Haley Parks and Xander Palmertree.Special thanks are given to her loving sitters who took such special care of her- Virgie, Lyndia, Wanda, Dorothy, Ellee, and Sandra.Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Monday, October 24, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with funeral services beginning at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.
