Our dear beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend, Lorenzo "Lore" Rede, age 89, lifelong resident of Mesilla, passed away at his home peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Lorenzo was born on July 25, 1927 in Mesilla to Secundina Rede. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and worked as a Master Carpenter at White Sands Missile Range where he retired after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Lorenzo was well known for his generosity and kindness. His joy in life was his grandchildren and great grand-children, and always helping others. In 1962, Lorenzo built a special podium for United States President John F. Kennedy who came to WSMR. Dad, you are now with Mom, Richard, Grandma, babies Alfonso, Lorenn and Brian, and your brothers and sisters. You will be with us in everything we do, will visit us from time to time to let us know you are ok and are watching over us. You will live in our hearts forever.Survivors include one son, Ruben Rede and wife, Teri of Albuquerque; four daughters, Gloria Rodriguez and husband, Henry, Sylvia Madrid and fiancé, Anthony Renio, Celia Rede Mayers and Cecilia Rede Luchini and husband, Wally all of Las Cruces. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Steven, Sammy and Caroline Rede, Julian Brian Mayers, Megan Lara, Jessica Rodriguez, Randilynn Cabrera, Kyle and Clayton Luchini and eleven great-grandchildren, Antonio and Emilia Rede, Brandon Manzanares, Mariah Ruiz, Nathan Rede, Julian, Gabriel and Trinity Mayers, Nathan and Brianna Lara and Devan Acosta. Lorenzo was preceded in death by his wife, Estella Rede, on November 5, 2016, his son, Richard Rede, mother Secundina Rede, sisters, Amada Rodriguez and Margaret Fontes; brothers, Ramon (Mickey) Rede, Manuel Garcia and Roberto Garcia, grandson, Alfonso Lorenzo Cabrera and great-grandchildren, Lorenn Rede Mayers and Brian Rede Mayers.Visitation for Mr. Rede will begin at 6 PM Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Basilica de San Albino, 2070 Calle de Santiago in Mesilla. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at San Albino Cemetery where he will be laid to rest alongside his wife. Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League - El Perro Detachment.
