Lorenzo "Larry" M. Sanchez, of Doña Ana entered eternal life on Sunday, July 2, 2017. He was born on May 5, 1934 in Anthony, New Mexico to Gregorio and Virginia Sanchez. "Larry" as he was fondly known to his family and friends served honorably in the United States
Army for eight years where he spent time in Korea. He later retired from the Las Cruces Public School District after 30 years of service as a plumber. Larry enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and spending time with his family. He enjoyed playing the slot machines on his trips to Albuquerque and Ruidoso. He is survived by his loving wife, Enedina; his seven children, Ruben (Elsie), Lawrence "Larry II" (Debra), Irene Sanchez (Ben), Rebecca Saldivar (Alonzo), Cynthia Palomino (Raúl), Patricia Charles, and Diane McDaniel (Ron). Other survivors include three brothers: Tony Sanchez, Ray Sanchez, and Pete Sanchez; three sisters: Christina Vargas, Vella Sanchez, and Emma Perez; four stepchildren: Lorraine Paz (Randy), Claralinda Marquez, Liz Aldaz (Robert), and Jack Nevarez (Diana); 17 grandchildren; three great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Gregorio and Virginia Sanchez; his four sisters, Felecitas Dominguez, Lupe Tome, Martha Torrez, and Anna Sanchez; his brother Isabel Sanchez. Prayer vigil is scheduled for Friday, July 14, 2017 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church, 5525 Cristo Rey in Doña Ana where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter with Reverend Camilo Montoya officiating. The Rite of Committal and Inurnment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho with military honors accorded by the New Mexico National Guard Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League – El Perro Diablo. Andre Coca, Lawrence "Larry" Sanchez III, Ben Sanchez Jr., Samuel Palomino, Orion Saldivar, and Mateo Palomino will be serving as honorary bearers.
