Loretha Steward, 73, of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed on September 05, 2020. Loretha was born on January 28, 1947 in Hardeman County, Tennesee to parents Edward McKinnie and Pearlie Polk. Her family was a large family with thirteen children. She graduated from high school despite only attending school during the winter months.
After graduating Loretha moved to Detroit, Michigan. There she worked at a large hotel as an elevator operator, where she would meet her future mother-in-law, and through whom she first learned about Jehovah God. Loretha married David McKinney and through this union had a daughter, Vernesser.
She was soon after a single mother raising a daughter alone. Loretha began to study the Bible with Jehovah\'s Witnesses and was baptized in 1975. She taught her daughter about Jehovah God and encouraged her to pray to and trust in Him. One example came one Sunday that she did not have money to buy food. Loretha prayed and then took her daughter to the meeting, followed by door-to-door service. When they returned home, there were many bags of groceries at her door.
She moved and traveled to different places with her daughter. Loretha would soon marry Irvin Steward.
Through all the hardships she faced, Loretha found joy in being the best mother and grandmother she could be. She loved and cherished her brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
Loretha was an amazing cook. Many would look forward to her chicken and dressing, smothered pork chops, and sweet potato pie. She would often spoil her grandchildren with homemade hot wings and fries.
Although we miss her, we are greatly comforted by the hope that Jehovah God has lovingly set before us. In the very near future, Loretha has the hope to awaken in the resurrection. (John 5: 28, 29) When the time comes for her to be resurrected here on Earth, we will be there waiting for her with open arms. We cannot wait to see her beautiful face that we all love and miss. (Revelation 21: 3, 4)
