Loretta MeloneDes MoinesLoretta Ann Melone, 70, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, January 1, 2017. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., in the Green Room, at Plymouth United Church of Christ in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Plymouth United Church of Christ with Pastor LeAnn Stubbs officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines, Iowa.Loretta was born on July 18, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ralph and Doris (Warren) Melone. She attended school at Des Moines Tech and hosted a radio show while in high school called Fun With Miss Lori. Lorretta graduated from Des Moines Tech in 1964 specializing in radio and TV production. She then briefly attended Drake before marrying Bernard Kozosky in 1965. The couple moved around with the military prior to settling back in Des Moines and began raising their family. Loretta was the editor of the HedgeHopper Newsletter and a member of the Military Wives Club while living in Fort Rucker AL. Lorretta spent most of her career at Meredith Corporation as a manager of many different departments, she also worked at KKCI where she retired from in 2015. Loretta was a member of Plymouth United Church of Christ, Waveland Eastern Star, Pythian Sisters, Mother Advisor to the Rainbow Girls, American Legion and enjoyed volunteering at Planned Parenthood. She loved her family and spending time with them most especially her grandkids. Loretta also enjoyed plays and theater, photography, making Christmas presents including her photos, making jewelry, being Grandma with the case, throwing the ball to Beau her grandson's dog which she adopted as her own dog, and making magic noodles for her grandkids. Loretta also loved following politics and following the Bush's as presidents. Loretta was loving and supportive to her family and was always willing to do whatever was needed to make them comfortable no matter how she felt, she was there.Those left to cherish her loving memories are her daughters Nichole Coggeshall of Urbandale, Iowa, and Katie Linn of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren Zach Linn, Alex Linn, Kristin Coggeshall, and Katie Coggeshall; brother Ralph "Dave" (Emma) Melone of Des Moines; nephew Michael (Amy) Melone and children Ella and Olivia, and Steven (Betty) Melone and children Paul and George; Closest friend Donna Smith, and many close friends and relatives.Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, uncles, and aunts.Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care, in Polk City, has been entrusted with the care of Loretta and her family.
