Loretta Mcgough, of Bartow, Florida, passed away on November 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 19, 1955, to William O. Woodruff and Marie Bell Woodruff.
She was proceeded in death by both parents, brothers William O. Woodruff Jr. and Steven D. Woodruff.
Loretta married Fred Mcgough, in 2007. They lived together in Alexander, Alabama, until his passing a few months ago.
Although she didn't have any children of her own, Loretta's nurturing spirit was evident in everything she did. She was a beloved member of her community, an avid reader and always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. She was a loyal servant to the church feeding the homeless. One of her favorite pastimes was spent fishing.
Loretta was a proud graduate of Haines City High School, where she excelled academically and made lifelong friends. After graduation in 1974, she went on to serve her country in the United States Army. She served 20 years stationed in Ft. Gordon, Georgia, Alaska, and Korea, ultimately retiring as a Staff Sergeant in 1994.
Throughout her life, Loretta touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her infectious laughter and unwavering positivity brought light to even the darkest of days. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Loretta bravely battled cancer in her final years, facing each day with strength and grace. In her memory, let us cherish the time we had with her and continue to spread the love and kindness she showed to the world.
She is survived by brother Felix Woodruff of Alabama; brother Terry Woodruff of Bartow, Fl; sister Judy and Paul Swenson of Bartow, Fl, and sister Kathryn and Jimmy Deese of Haines City, Fl. She also is survived and loved by many nieces, nephews along with great nieces and nephews.
Rest in peace, dear Loretta. Your spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know you.
