Lori L. Lushina-RoachPEKIN - Lori L. Lushina-Roach, 59, of Pekin, IL, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2016, at her home.Lori was born on March 6, 1957, in La Salle, IL, to Ludwig and Loretta (Thompson) Lushina. She married Gerald Roach on November 26, 2006, in Las Vegas, NV.She was preceded in death by her father.Surviving are her devoted husband, Gerald of Pekin; mother and sidekick, Loretta Rowell of Pekin; her two best friends and daughters, Tja (fiancée, Louis Wierenga) Chiapelli of Chicago, IL, and Cori (Jeff) Lippert of Washington, IL; grandson and buddy, Tyler Lippert of Washington; expecting the arrival of the newest "sparkle" in her life, a granddaughter, Parker Grace Wierenga, due January 2, 2017; and her "little brother" brother, Lee (Jeanie) Lushina of Washington, IL. Lori was the president of the Thrifty Nickel Newspaper in Peoria, IL, for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time outdoors in her pool, fishing on the water, in her flower gardens, at the beach and anywhere else the sun shined on her. She loved to cook, bake and entertain, especially for her family. Lori had a talent of lighting up any room she walked into and was loved by all that crossed her path. She courageously fought and beat cancer. Being able to have adventures and spend time with her grandson, and the thoughts of her upcoming grandchildren, was the motivation that helped her fight through and overcome her illness against the odds, wherein she was given the nickname "superwoman."Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin, IL. Funeral services will be held just following the visitation at 7 p.m. at the funeral home as well.
