Lorraine Oldenburg BURLINGTON Lorraine A. (Brook) Oldenburg, age 85, passed away November 13, 2012 at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington with all of her children by her side. Lorraine was born on December 22, 1926. Her place of birth and her biological parents are unknown. As an infant she lived in a Norwegian Lutheran Orphanage in Milwaukee. It was there in November of 1927 that she was adopted by James and Agnes (nee Stockwell) Brook, who lived in the Town of Brighton. Lorraine graduated from Twin Oaks School in 1940, Wilmot High School in 1944, Beloit College in 1948 and from a business school in Kenosha in 1950. On December 22, 1951, Lorraine was united in marriage to Harold M. Oldenburg in Waukesha. Following marriage they lived in Twin Lakes, the Town of Randall and then moved to Brighton where they lived for many years. They moved to Burlington in 2005. Harold preceded Lorraine in death on May 31, 2012. Lorraine served on the School Board for Brighton Elementary School and was a school bus driver in the same district. She enjoyed card games and reading. Lorraine was an avid sports fan and had played sports in her younger years. Survivors include her daughters, Margaret Hakomaki of Waukesha and Mary Dexter of Kansasville, sons; James (Christine) Oldenburg of Lake Geneva, Harold (Bonnie) Oldenburg Jr. of Burlington and Richard (Rocio) Oldenburg of Burlington, grandchildren; Shelly Oldenburg, Thomas (Brenna) Oldenburg, Angela Traughber, Nikolaos Hakomaki, Erika (Eric) Oldenburg-Salmon, Ashley Oldenburg and Alexander Oldenburg and by great-grandchildren; Alayna, Frank, Elliot and Sullivan. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and by an infant daughter. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Dr., Burlington, with Rev. Cliff Hathcock officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Inurnment will take place at 2:00 PM on Monday, at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. A gathering for relatives and friends will follow from 3:00 pm until 5:30 pm at the Veterans Terrace in Burlington. Memorials have been suggested to the or to the Burlington VFW.
