Lorraine Marie Tapahonso-Gleason, 73, of Yatahey, NM passed from this life Tuesday, Oct. 31, in Yatahey. She was born on June 18, 1945 in Oaksprings, Ariz., to her maternal clan To'dich'ii'nii/Bitter Water and her paternal clan To'dik'ozhi/Salt Water.Lorraine grew up in Shiprock and attended Navajo Methodist Mission in Farmington, before going on to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. There she earned a Bachelor's degree in nursing sciences in 1976. Lorraine loved animals and in her spare time she loved to travel and spend time with her two grandchildren, Daymon and Ava. Lorraine will be missed dearly.Lorraine was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Tapahonso Sr.; her mother Lucille Descheene-Tapahonso; and her siblings Calvin Tapahonso, Mary Sue Tapahonso, Marilyn Tapahonso and Alvin Tapahonso. She is survived by her beloved husband Jimmie Gleason Jr.; her sons, James Gleason III, Calvin Gleason and Steve Gleason; her daughter Micala Nakai; her brothers Vistor Barney, Larry Barney, Eugene Tapahonso Jr.; her sisters Angela Ben, Kathleen Tapahonso, Luci Tapahonso, Sue Tapahonso, and Eugenia Curley; and 2 granchildren as well.Pallbearers are Reid Morris, Richard Gleason, Anthony Shemayne, Isaiah James, Elton Tapahonso, Fred Curley Jr. Terrence Perry and Angelo Notsinneh.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 4, at Lily of the Valley Church, Red Valley, Ariz.
