Louis AlphonsePoughkeepsie - Louis Anthony Alphonse, 95 of the Town of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Louis was born on November 5, 1922 in Waterbury CT to Josephine Capitoli and Enrico Alfonso. He married Irene Clair Kelley on July 26, 1942 at St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie, NY and were married almost 65 years. Louis graduated from Wappingers Schools and was a
WWII veteran where he proudly served in the United States
Army , 97th Infantry Division and was awarded the
Bronze Star for bravery in combat. Louis was employed for the NYS Department of Corrections as a Correction Officer at Fishkill Correctional Facility where he retired after 25 years of service. Louis was a member of St. Martin de Porres Church in Poughkeepsie, NY, a former member of the Poughkeepsie
Elks Club and the American Legion Post 1302 of Poughkeepsie. Louis enjoyed his home, loved working in his yard and traveling with his wife. He was a wonderful, loving, kind husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and recently, great, great grandfather. He always had a smile and a friendly hello for everyone. He is survived by his sons Louis A. and wife Carol Alphonse of the Town of Unionvale, John M. and wife Sylvia Alhponse of Toms River New Jersey, Michael C. Alphonse of Poughkeepsie and Joseph H. Alphonse of North Carolina. His grandchildren, Robert A., John A., Brian Alphonse and Vanessa Alphonse, Jennifer L. Moyer, Louis A., John J., Sarah E. Alphonse, Sean Wiser and Tia Wiser, Joseph M., Justine, Emily and Jordan Alphonse. Eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild as well as his granddaughter Shannon Aiello of Poughkeepsie whom he lived with, her husband Richard Aiello and his great grandchildren Tyler Aiello, Justin Aiello and Meghan Aiello as well as his brother Armand Alfonso of Wappinger Falls, NY. He is predeceased by his wife Irene Clair Alphonse, his daughter Irene Renee Alphonse and sister Mary Mowry. Calling hours will take place Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Avenue Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Funeral Services will take place Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 10am at the Church of St. Martin de Porres.
