Louise Hill Shanks, 102, of Marion, Illinois, formerly of Liberty, Missouri, passed away at Fifth Season Residential - Radcliffe on November 30, 2016. Louise was born on February 22, 1914 to Herbert Wilbur Hill and Flora Daugherty Hill in Liberty, Missouri. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1932. After completing Business College in Kansas City, Missouri, Louise worked for the Missouri State Auditor in Jefferson City, Missouri. In October, 1941 she returned to Liberty, Missouri when she married Gordon William Shanks. Louise was a member of the Liberty Christian Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed card games (especially bridge), reading and spending time with her family. Louise's positive outlook on life was reflected by her favorite quotation, "Every day is a good day"! She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Froncie Joy and Bonnie Hill, her husband (Gordon William Shanks) of 60 years on April 6, 2002 and her youngest daughter, Carolyn Shanks Pollard on January 20, 2009. Louise is survived by her daughter, Janet Shanks of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, her son and daughter-in-law, William Hill (Bill) and Gail Shanks of Marion, Illinois and her son-in- law Gary Duane Pollard of Polo, Missouri, five (5) grandchildren Krista Lyn Holtzmann, Patrick William Shanks, Kara Ann Benyas, Cary Lynn Denault and Kevin Duane Pollard and twelve (12) great grandchildren Jake and Will Holtzmann, Michael, Evan and Hayden Shanks, Gabriela and Maya Benyas, Garad and Caleb Proctor and Madison, Carson and Jackson Pollard. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Joan Robinson and Theresa Lambert of Creal Springs, Illinois for providing care and companionship for our Mother and Grandmother. The funeral service will be held at the Liberty Christian Church, 427 E. Kansas St., Liberty, Missouri on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held at the Church one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Gladstone, Missouri following the funeral service.
