Louise V. ComptonGreenvilleLouise V. Compton, widow of William Burnette Compton, passed peacefully into heaven on Friday, February 24, 2017.Louise was born on August 30, 1923, in Greenville, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Isadore Manley Vaughn, Sr. and Lillie Maude Jeter Vaughn. Louise attended Reid School where she was valedictorian and competed in the South Carolina spelling bee as the representative from the upstate. Louise worked at Piedmont Shirt Company and was retired from Kmart Corporation where she was a receiving clerk. She was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church for 82 years joining on August 8, 1934, working as a teacher and choir member. She loved the Lord and had read her Bible through 41 times. Surviving are a daughter, Judy McJunkin and husband, Wayne; a son, Robby Compton, and wife, Maxine; grandchildren, Anne Edland, husband, Tony; Lynn Wolfe, husband Mark; Tim McJunkin, wife, Auburn; Tara Compton; Tyler Compton, wife, Jennifer; seven great-grandchildren, Caroline, Lance and Samantha McJunkin, Christian Edland, Marly Wolfe, Alexander and Anna Jane Compton, a brother, Melvin Vaughn and two sisters, Julia Crain and Dot Hannon. She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. "Bill" Compton, brothers, I.M. Vaughn, Jr., Lamont Vaughn, Robert Vaughn in childhood, and a sister Janie Vaughn.The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Mountain Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mountain Creek Baptist Church, Children's Playground Fund, 255 W. Mountain Creek Road, Greenville, S.C. 29609.
