Loula May Sonnier ReedOpelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 for Loula May Sonnier Reed at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Monsignor Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Burial will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iota, LA.Mrs. Reed, age 90, a resident of Opelousas passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the Acadia-St. Landry Hospital. She was born on January 1, 1927 in Mowata, Louisiana. Loula loved all her hats and was known as the "Hat Lady" because she wore them to church. She was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church and was a member of the Ladies Alter Society. She faithfully prayed the Rosary and honored the Blessed Mother. She contributed to religious organizations, collected prayer cards and religious medals. She worked as a "Pink Lady" at Opelousas General Hospital for many years. She loved sewing, her flowers, gardening, taking road trips and shopping. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her son, Al Reed and wife, Cathy of Brandon, MS; her daughters, Julie Reed Mansfield of Opelousas, LA and Pamela Kaye Reed of Opelousas, LA and special friends of the family, Page Jones and husband, Steve and their children, Tiffany and Anna Jones. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Richard "Russ" Mansfield of Opelousas, LA; Dr. Russell Reed and wife, Simine of Ocean Springs, MS; Shannon Reed McClure and husband, Brent of Mobile, AL; Jennifer Reed Tuccio and husband, Andy of Brandon, MS; granddaughter-in-law, Sue Duplechain Mansfield of Opelousas, LA; 10 great-grandchildren, Trinity Faith, Trevor Brent and Tristan Slayde Mansfield, Riley and Drew Tuccio, Hunter, Evelyn and Callie Reed and Piper and Stevens McClure; a host of nieces, nephews and several godchildren, and one sister, Maryanne Sensat of Egan, LA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell Reed; her father, Yves Sonnier; her mother, Odelia Miller Sonnier Cart; her grandson, Daniel Brent Mansfield, one brother and two sisters. Visitation will be held at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will reopen on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening by Deacon Jerome Collins.
