Mama Lou worked at DC Navy Yard as a Sanitation Engineer in the early 80\'s. Switching over to beome a Registered Nurse and then a Home Health Aide, where she was injured on the job and was unable to return to work. Mama Lou enjoyed experiencing different aspects of life. Everyone who knew her, knew that she was a fashionista, with her blue eyeliner, colored lips, and multiple hair styles. Her favorite quote was, \"There\'s nothing old about me but my clothes!\" She enjoyed going on adventures with her family and relaxing at the Waterfront. When at home, she would engage in her western shows, murder mysteries and televised church services. Mama Lou loved the Lord with all her heart. She loved the Lord so much that her Holy Bible had a special place in her bed, that no one could touch or move because it was sacred. She wanted to know all she could about God which led her to seek him in many forms of faith under the Christian umbrella. Mama Lou felt that she was missing out on fellowship and became a member of First Church of Christ Holiness of Washington, DC, to be spiritually fed and to spend more time with her family. Louvenia Thomas is preceded in death by her parents Eulouse and Carrie Chamber and her great-nephew Cordaro Chambers.
