Lucy A. HippeeJohnstonMrs. Lucy Ann Hippee went to her heavenly home on April 5, 2017 at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center, in Johnston, Iowa. She was 86 years old. A visitation will be held at Iles Westover Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m., on Monday, April 10, 2017. The vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in the Our Lady of Peace Chapel at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center followed by burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap, Iowa.Lucy is survived by her children; Julie Craven (David) of West Des Moines, Iowa and Jacqueline Russell of Corvallis, Oregon; her grandchildren; Jeremiah Russell of Tillamook, Oregon, Robert Craven of Des Moines, Iowa, Katherine Craven (Jack Ewing) of Colfax, Iowa, Annie Uhlenberg (Ryan) of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Mary Craven Bartemes (Theodore) of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Evelyn Craven of West Des Moines, Iowa; and her great-grandchildren; Sean Craven of Colfax, Iowa and James Bartemes of West Des Moines, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her first husband Trent Candor, her second husband Richard L. Russell, her third husband, the love of her life, William "Bill" Hippee and her parents; Addison "Bud" Oliver Motter and Irene Rogers Motter.She was born on April 4, 1931 in Dunlap, Iowa. She attended Ottumwa Heights in Ottumwa, Iowa and Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa. She worked as a secretary. She took great satisfaction in working at the Cowles Library at Drake University, and later, at Joseph's Jewelry in Des Moines, Iowa. After she married Bill Hippee, former president and general manager of KCCI, she made many friends at the television station. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with friends at the Polk County Senior Center in Des Moines and Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines.Lucy was accomplished at drawing and painting and often had her work displayed at the Des Moines Women's Club Art Show and the Des Moines Art Center. She and her late husband, Bill, were members of the Des Moines Club. They enjoyed boating, beaches, fine dining, and many wonderful vacations. She and her late husband especially enjoyed their time spent during many summers at Clear Lake where they would watch sailboat races, captain their pontoon boat, and relax.Online condolences are welcome at www.Ilescares.com.
