Lucy Diaz, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on June 4, 2023, in her home in Hartford, Connecticut, at the age of 71. She was born on the Fourth of July in 1951 in New Haven, Connecticut, to her parents, Juan and Maria Diaz.

Lucy grew up in Hartford and attended Hartford Public High School. At the age of 18, she met the love of her life, Peter Johnson, and they were married two years later. Together they had four children, Sarah, Michael, David, and Lisa, and were blessed with six grandchildren.

Lucy was a caring and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She always put her family first and was always there for them, no matter what. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, taking them on outings and watching them grow up.

Lucy was also an active member of the Hartford community. She worked for the City of Hartford for over 25 years and was a member of the local Lions Club. She volunteered at her children's schools and was a Girl Scout leader for many years.

Lucy was a kind and generous person who always put others before herself. She loved to cook and bake and would always bring treats for her coworkers and neighbors. She had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.

Lucy will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Peter; her children, Sarah, Michael, David, and Lisa; her grandchildren, Emily, Jacob, Hannah, Ethan, Olivia, and Sophia; her siblings, Juan, Maria, and Rosa; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of Lucy's life will be held on June 10, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Hartford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Lucy.
