Brechko, Lulu Caroline BoyerLulu Caroline Boyer Brechko, 97, of Windsor, NY, passed away peacefully on July 18th, 2017, at Mercy House of the Southern Tier. Lulu was born on May 6, 1920 in Middletown, New York and spent her early years growing up in Orange County, New York. After marrying Michael Matthew Brechko, the love of her life, on February 11, 1940, she spent 71 happy years with him until Michael passed away on June 30, 2011. She is with him once more, being serenaded with many love songs. Lulu and Michael had four sons. Lulu spent her early years as a stay at home Mom with her boys. She instilled strong moral and faith based values for her children. Lulu loved to write letters (a dying art) to friends and family. During the course of her life, Lulu was an avid reader, and gardener. As a parent, she stressed the value of an education. Because of this, each of her four sons completed a college education. Love of family and a deep faith in God were key factors in her long life. For many years, she was the go-to person for saying prayers for many causes. She is now, and will always, be in our prayers. Lulu was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and was very proud to have visited the DAR headquarters in Washington, DC, during a family trip in 2014. The Lord called Lulu from this life, to join her beloved husband, Michael Matthew Brechko, and her parents, Lewis and Mary Boyer. Lulu is survived by her four sons and their spouses; Michael and Rosemary, John and Linda, Robert and Valerie, and Thomas and Donna; her eleven grandchildren and their spouses Dennis (Kristen), Christine (Bill Bracken), Daniel (Tania), Jason (Heather), Andrew, Aaron (Cate), Jennifer (Michael Alphonse), Nicholas (Amanda), Kate (Nicholas Chappell), Brian (Anita) and Jacob (Jamie); and twenty great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their thanks to the many members of the staff at Lourdes Hospice for their compassionate care of Lulu. Visiting hours will take place on Saturday, July 22th beginning at 9:00 a.m. at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Johnson City, NY, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N.
