Luther Carl HunnicuttMay 19, 1936 - May 25, 2017TulareLuther Carl Hunnicutt, age 81, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017. Luther was born on May 19, 1936 in Tulare, CA, one of 3 children born to Lloyd and Mamie Hunnicutt. Luther grew up on a small farm just outside of Dinuba, CA, where he attended Sultana Elementary School and Dinuba High School. After graduating from high school in 1955, Luther served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, during which time he was stationed in British Columbia and California.Shortly after leaving the service, Luther moved back to the Dinuba area. One night, while cruising with some friends, he met Carrol Phillips. After a whirlwind romance, they were married on May 8, 1960. Luther took a milk delivery job with Ideal Dairy Co. and moved his young family to Easton, CA, where he lived for 32 years. In the early seventies Luther received training in the insurance field and acquired Agri-Center Insurance Agency in 1973, which he built into a successful business. He and Carrol moved to Fresno, CA in 1994, where he continued to be owner and president of Agri-Center until his death.Throughout his life, Luther had many interests. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Visalia-Mineral King Lodge of the Free & Accepted Masons of California. He loved to travel, and was a private pilot. The great joy of his life, however, were his grandchildren, and they will always have treasured memories of going for walks on the beach with their "Papa".In addition to his parents, Luther was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeff Carlbeck. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carrol; his sister Dixie Cooper and her husband, Ernie, of Visalia, CA; his sister Gail Hunnicutt of Sacramento, CA; his daughter Cindy Carlbeck and her husband, Brent, of Coquitlam, B.C.; his son Jim Hunnicutt and his wife, Diana, of Fresno; and his daughter Lana Rimio and her husband, Dan, of Fresno. Luther is the beloved grandfather of Ashley, Christina, Samuel, and Joseph; and the beloved great-grandfather of Alexander.A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on May 31, 2017 at Farewell Funeral Service, 660 W. Locust, Suite 101, in Fresno, CA. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on June 1, 2017 at New Harvest Church, 698 N. Minnewawa Ave, in Clovis, CA.
