Luther Edward Massengill, 67, of Oak Ridge, died Sept. 17 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Edward was born on Sept. 6, 1945 in Campbell County. He was a United States ArmyVeteran having served in the Vietnam War where he received many medals including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Edward loved the Lord and was a member of the LaFollette Church of Christ. He also enjoyed antique cars and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.Edward is preceded in death by his previous wife and mother of his children, Rosa Lee Massengill; father, Claude Massengill and an infant sister.He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Wanda June Massengill of Oak Ridge; mother, Dora Terry of Caryville; daughters Lisa Jean Muse and husband, Mark, of Jacksboro, Teresa Lynn Seiber and husband, Sheridan, of Lake City; brothers, Glen Massengill and wife, Polly, of Bristol, Carlos Massengill and wife, Edith, of Columbus, Ohio, Ronnie Massengill and wife, Harriet, of Morristown, Jimmy Massengill and wife, Carolyn, of LaFollette, Claude Massengill, Jr., and wife, Nancy, of Caryville; grandchildren Sara Ashleigh Muse, Megan Elizabeth Muse, Jordan Lyn Seiber and Jared Lee Seiber; a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.Funeral services were Sept. 19 with Minister Darryl Glenn officiating. Interment was at 10 a.m. on Sept. 20 at the Campbell Memorial Gardens. Campbell County Honor Guard performed full military honors.Holley Gamble Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
