Lydia ZaidaAGE: 67 • FreeholdLydia Zaida, 67, passed away on December 3, 2016 in Escondido, California. She was born on October 14, 1949 in Munich, Germany. She was the daughter of the late Simon and Jadwiga Wasylczenko of Freewood Acres, New Jersey. At the age of 4 years, she came to the United States with her family through Ellis Island, one year before that port of entry was closed. She later became a proud American citizen. Lydia grew up in Freewood Acres. She graduated from Howell High School, class of 1966. At the age of 16, she became employed as a title searcher. Lydia eventually started her own title company, LZ Abstract, which then became Independence Search and Abstract, with an office on South Street in Freehold and branch offices servicing multiple counties in New Jersey. After her husband Misha Zaida's death on January 5, 2016, she moved to Escondido, California, to be closer to her remaining family. She is survived by her brother, Victor Igor Wasylczenko, brother, Henry Wasylczenko, sister-in-law, Kathy Wasylczenko, nephew Erik Wasylczenko of Escondido, California, and niece, Vanessa Waters Kassir, of Topanga Canyon, California. Another survivor, her 15 year-old pug, Boris, will live his remaining years in the care of the Wasylczenko's.Family and friends may visit the DiCostanzo family owned, Lakewood Funeral Home, 6250 Highway 9, Howell from 7 until 9 p.m. on Friday, December 16. Her Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 17, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1400 Clifton Avenue, Lakewood.
