Lyle HorstLyle Horst was called home by the Lord on July 28, 2015. He was born on July 21, 1934 to Leonard and Martha Horst in Java, South Dakota. He worked for ten years for the Milwaukee Railroad and thirty years for the Ellensburg Post Office. He served his country for two years in the U.S. army in Taiwan as a cryptographer.He married Audrey McKay in 1956 and they were blessed with three children, Deborah Fay (Jerry), Richard Horst (Kerry), and Randall Horst (Crystal). On June 17, 1989 he married Beverly Case and was pleased to add two-step daughters, Mary Beckett (Mike) and Torina Case.He was a long time member of the Ellensburg Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, going to yard sales and flea markets. He was also interested in local history.Lyle was preceded in death by both his parents and Audrey. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Horst, and all of his children and seven grandchildren.One of his favorite things in life was sitting in his "man-cave" and talking about local history with his best friend of 40 years, Dave Moffatt. Lyle was a wonderful Christian man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.A celebration of his life will be held September 26, 2015 in Terrace Heights at the Spirit Alive Wesleyan Church at 3601 Mountainview Ave. Yakima, WA 98901, starting at 2:00 p.m.
